AURÆ Paris
AURÆ is a self-initiated concept — a fictional Parisian fragrance house built to prove a single idea: that an e-commerce product page can be a real-time 3D experience instead of a static photo grid.
The challenge
Most luxury product pages still rely on flat hero imagery. The brief I set myself was to render the product live in the browser — a glass flacon the visitor can rotate and reconfigure — while keeping it fast, accessible, and convincing enough to feel like a genuine flagship.
The approach
- Modelled the flacon entirely from procedural geometry — no downloaded 3D assets — using real glass refraction (MeshTransmissionMaterial) so the coloured extrait reads through clear glass.
- Built a live configurator: choosing a scent recolours the liquid, the lighting, and every accent across the page in real time via shared state and CSS variables.
- Lit the scene with an in-browser studio rig instead of a downloaded HDRI, so reflections are generated client-side with zero external dependency.
- Kept it honest under the hood: the 3D is code-split out of the initial bundle, the whole experience respects reduced-motion, and it ships as a static export with Product schema and a dark/light theme.
The outcome
A second 3D reference piece for the studio — distinct from PHANTOM — that demonstrates interactive product visualisation and a working configurator. It shows prospective e-commerce clients what a product page can be when it's built, not just photographed. A live concept, not a client engagement.
